New Democratically Elected President for Egypt

On Sunday 24th June 2012, Dr Mohamed Morsi of the Freedom and Justice Party was announced as the first democratically elected President in the History of Egypt. Since the 2011 revolution Egyptians have worked hard to elect a new president that can implement democratic reforms and lead the Country. Celebrations were witnessed all over Tahrir Square and throughout Egypt on Sunday.

Dr Morsi pledged to be a leader for All Egyptians and to preserve Egypts existing relations and peace treaties. He also pledged to end “discrimination against any Egyptian based on religion, ethnicity or gender.”

On Monday 25th June 2012 Egypt Shares soared by more than 7%, the biggest increase in share values in 9 years, after the news of Morsy’s win. On Tuesday share values rose by a further 2.8%. This is hope for Egyptians that the economy will stabalise and return to normal in the coming months.

We would like to congratulate the new Egyptian President and look forward to a bright & democratic new future for Egypt.
